MICRO IMAGE CAPTURE 8

  • Compact Design – The MIC7 and MIC8 are the most compact desktop digital microfilm systems on the market today. The fiche only models are 14″ deep by 10″ wide and about 8″ tall. Small enough to fit comfortably on your work desk and easy to pick up and store away when not needed. The Motorized Roll Film Carrier option adds about 8″ to the overall width of either system.
  • Light Weight –  The MIC7 and MIC8 are made primarily of anodized billet aluminum so the Microfiche models weigh about 16 Lbs. and the Motorized Roll Film models only add about 5 pounds.
  • Portable – The compact size and light weight of the Micro-Image Capture systems make them ideal for sharing between employees and departments and even remote on-site imaging.
  • Green, Low Power Usage Design – The MIC7 and MIC8 systems are unique in the industry because they do not use an external power supply! The microfiche models derive the power needed to energize both the illumination pad and the imaging head from the USB ports of the host PC or laptop. This means they can be used anywhere in the world, without the need for an external power supply. In fact the MIC7 and MIC8 use less then 1 watt of power when operating, an amazing technological feat that makes these scanners unlike any other in the world. (The motorized roll film carrier version does come with a small DC power supply)
  • Reliable – The more electro-mechanicals a system has; motors, gears, drive shafts, mirrors, sensors, optical switches, etc., the more likely there will be a system failure, its that simple. The Micro-Image Capture 7 & 8 capture images directly from the microfilm, not by way of bouncing the microfilm image off of mirrors like other systems. Other systems use a condenser lens and one or more mirrors to project the image to a sensor, these components are susceptible to dust accumulation which can require frequent service calls since the mirrors are inside of these units. Not so with the Micro-Image Capture systems, the sealed CMOS imager and lens look directly to the microfilm surface and capture the image without a light condenser lens and without mirrors, so its less likely that the image will be diminished in any way with this unique direct capture path.
  • High Definition Viewing and Capture – The Micro-Image Capture 7 has a high resolution CMOS sensor designed to view and capture images that were originally letter and legal size documents.  The new Micro-Image Capture 8 uses a Sony Exmor-R CMOS sensor that is a true 20 Mega Pixel Sensor (1″ sensor 5440×3648 2.4umx2.4um pixels) and ideal for viewing and capturing large format microfilm images on 35mm rolls and aperture cards. While other systems often quote high Mega Pixel specifications for their units, some use software interpolation to boost the advertised Mega Pixel rating of their system. Some systems that boast 14 to 26 Mega Pixels of resolution use image sensors that actually have as little as 6 or 7 Mega Pixels!
  • The Micro-Image Capture 8 Imager has a true High Definition Sony Exmor-R 20MP CMOS sensor! (1″ Sensor w/ 5440×3648 and 2.4×2.4um pixels)

Description

The Micro-Image Capture 8 is the latest in digital microfilm and microfiche image capture technology from Micro-Image Capture featuring an Ultra high resolution Sony Exmor-R 20MP CMOS Imager  that connects via USB 3.0. Medical grade microscopy optics and HD electronics with fast 15 fps refresh rate allows for full-size, real-time quality viewing on-screen, printing and digital capture of both 16mm and 35mm large format microfilm images.
Completely portable, the MIC8 gets power & communicates via host PC’s USB 3.0 ports for ultra fast information and 15 fps image streaming. Use with a PC workstation or with a laptop for a completely mobile microfiche/ AP card capture solution.
The Micro-Image Capture 8 uses the latest USB 3.0 technology to deliver a very fast refresh rate and real time viewing. Compatible with Windows XP platforms on up to Windows 7/8 & 10 (32 & 64bit) & MAC O/S.  You get Twain, C/C++, C# and DShow drivers as well so you can use the MIC8 system with compatible 3rd party imaging software.
The new optional MRFC-1 Motorized Roll Film Carrier option provides convenient electronic advance and rewind in slow, medium and high speed at the touch of a button. An excellent feature when working with 16 & 35mm microfilm rolls. Adding either manual or motorized roll film options makes the system a universal carrier, so the fiche/AP card carrier is still active while the motorized roll film carrier is in place and ready to use.
The MIC8 was designed for applications that require an ultra high resolution like Aperture Cards and 35mm Roll Film and Jackets that contain large format images like newspaper, engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints and plot maps. Capture an image with a simple keystroke or with included USB Footswitch and save to your PC as a digital file or send to your network printer for a hard copy. The Micro-Image Capture 8 features a 7-54X optical zoom range perfect for both 16mm & 35mm microfilm images on fiche, jackets, aperture cards and roll film.
Fast and easy adjustment of magnification and focus is achieved via precision high quality optics and mechanical camera stage. Light and solid anodized billet aluminum base unit and fiche handler provides auto mechanical glass lift and is built tough with quality linear bearings for precision movement and long product life.
Capture software provides for many adjustments to image quality like contrast, brightness, and resolution as well as optical flip, image rotate and image polarity invert (from neg microfilm to positive onscreen image). Send images instantly to your printer, e-mail or to a designated pc folder with one keystroke. Output image format types include PDF, TIFF, JPG, PNG, PSD, BMP, CAL, GIF, CAL, WPG and others.
Capture images in one second! Create live capture area on the GUI to quickly capture a single document and send to the network printer, save to a folder or e-mail. Software also allows for real time recording of microfilm viewing (genealogy & research presentations) and comes with PDF OCR Software you can use post capture. Set up a capture “hot zone” on your monitor and capture images by pressing the foot-switch for fast production style scanning.
The unit comes standard with a fiche carrier that holds Fiche, Jackets and aperture cards, USB 3.0 PCI-e Card, Foot-switch, View/Scan Software, PDF OCR Software, cables and installation/instruction guide.
Micro-Image Capture 8 is designed and produced in the U.S.A (patent pending) and is CE, ROHS certified. This unit is a low energy consumption, green technology, USB powered device is easy to use anywhere in the world as it requires no AC power (Motorized RFC does require A/C) . With its light weight and small footprint, the Micro-Image Capture 8 can be used as a mobile microfilm viewer/scanner when connected to a laptop.
